Determine your state’s minimum insurance requirements. Consider your own financial situation in relation to the required insurance and whether you need to increase your limits to protect your assets. Check the status of your driving record: Do you have outstanding fines or points on your driver’s license? Review your current coverage to know how much you are paying. Get competitive quotes from insurance websites and individual companies you are interested in. Make follow-up phone calls to insurance companies for additional coverage information. Inquire about discounts. Evaluate the reliability of the insurance companies you are considering by visiting your state’s insurance department website, reviewing consumer surveys, and talking to family and friends. Review the policy before finalizing it. Remember to cancel your previous policy.

The increased use of social media has led to a rapid decline in user anonymity and privacy. Social media makes it easy to share intimate details of all aspects of life, so using social media without considering how big companies might use it can be potentially harmful. This is particularly true for people with an open personal injury claim. Increasingly, we see insurance companies using and exploiting social media data against people recovering from traumatic injuries. As a result, social media is playing an increasingly influential role in litigation related to personal injury cases. Note that when you post online, you do not retain ownership or control of the information once published. According to the terms and conditions of use of most social media sites, any information posted online becomes the property of the website or app. Once posted, a site may share or disclose the information to a third party, including an insurance company. Information posted online is not protected by the privacy guarantees of the social media website or attorney-client privilege. Insurance adjusters and defense lawyers will use anything they can find to attack the credibility of an injured person and undermine their claim. Even before a lawsuit is filed, insurance adjusters routinely track the internet for photos and status updates showing that the injured party is engaging in demanding physical activities (think: dancing, walking, rock climbing, and even playing with grandchildren). This can become fodder for the insurance company to attempt to discredit the claimed injuries. Comments and posts from friends or family can also be used to shame the injured person or degrade their character (think: references to parties, silly photos, or emotional or angry status updates). Websites and apps like Foursquare and Facebook that track a person’s movement or allow them to “check in” at locations can also provide information about a person’s activities that can be used to question the validity of their injuries.

Avoid aggressive driving and weaving from one lane to another. Maintain a safe distance of at least three seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you. This will help you avoid frequent braking and rear-end collisions. Keep a close eye on traffic ahead.

Millions of people are injured due to the negligence of medical professionals every year. Things like surgical errors, misdiagnoses, and birth mistakes can cause serious and lasting damage, and personal injury lawyers can help you recover damages for your unnecessary suffering. However, medical malpractice lawsuits are not as simple and straightforward as many people think, so if you are considering filing one, it is important to know what to expect. These are the five basic steps involved in medical malpractice lawsuits: Investigation: Before a lawsuit can be filed, it must be proven that your injuries were the result of negligent actions by a doctor, nurse, or other medical professional. This may take some investigation, and a qualified law firm should be able to help you examine aspects such as medical records, medical histories, and administrative notes. Filing: Once medical negligence can be demonstrated in your injuries, then the formal lawsuit can be filed. Your personal injury lawyer will determine who should be held responsible for your injuries and focus the lawsuit on that or those parties. Building a Case: After the lawsuit has been filed against the negligent party, the process of gathering evidence begins. To have a strong case on your behalf, it is important to have as much solid evidence as possible, demonstrating the harm and negligence in your medical treatment. Negotiation: Often, medical malpractice lawsuits can be resolved outside of court, and a good lawyer can save you the stress and cost of trial. They will negotiate with the other parties involved and try to obtain fair compensation for your suffering. However, some cases end up going to trial. Trial Procedure: When an agreement cannot be negotiated outside of court, a trial is warranted for your medical malpractice case. Your lawyer will present your case before a judge and jury, who will examine the evidence and make the final decision for the outcome of your case. This is a particularly critical moment to have an experienced personal injury lawyer on board, who can fight for you. If you or someone you love has been injured due to the negligent actions of a medical professional, it is important to speak with a lawyer immediately to see if you have a case. On Wednesday night, a vote was approved to terminate the city’s contract with the company American Traffic Solutions Inc. on January 1, 2019. Apopka’s 17 red light cameras were installed nearly 12 years ago, generating millions of dollars in revenue. Mayor Bryan Nelson expressed concern that the city’s red light cameras keep drivers away from the area. A representative from American Traffic Solutions Inc. said that the cameras should remain connected as they provide valuable resources for the police to review, adding that the video has been used as evidence in various fatal accidents. The measure will be effective on January 1, 2019.

Iling bankruptcy can help a person by discarding debt or making a plan to repay debts. A bankruptcy case normally begins when the debtor files a petition with the bankruptcy court. A petition may be filed by an individual, by spouses together, or by a corporation or other entity. All bankruptcy cases are handled in federal courts under rules outlined in the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. There are different types of bankruptcies, which are usually referred to by their chapter in the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Individuals may file Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy, depending on the specifics of their situation. Seeking the advice of a qualified lawyer is strongly recommended because bankruptcy has long-term financial and legal consequences.
